Backpacker’s insurance may cover as much as 18 months of travel but the individual policies and exclusions should be studied carefully before buying. The most important aspect will depend on the countries to be visited as some exotic destinations in war threatened countries won’t be covered.
Medical treatment will not be free in most non-European countries and it may be hard to access without valid insurance.
Although the backpacker may be travelling without many possessions the ones that they do have will be vitally important. Insurance that covers what’s in the backpack as well as the person carrying it might make all the difference if anything needs to be replaced.
