A: Yes, there are a number of backpacker insurance options and you don’t have to be carrying a backpack to get them, just staying away for an extended period.
Q: Will my cases be covered by my home insurance if they are lost at the airport?
A: Check your policy but it’s unlikely however most standard travel insurance will cover your luggage when you travel.
