7. Credit card security

Unfortunately, where there are credit cards, there is credit card fraud and theft.

However, there are so many things that you can do to reduce the chances of being a victim that these crimes shouldn’t get in the way of your credit card experience.

As with most things, common sense will prove to be one of your best weapons against fraudsters and thieves. If you combine it with the information we provide in this section you should be well on your way to keeping your credit cards out of harm’s way.

In this section you will find information on the protection that comes with a credit card plus details of precautionary measures you can take to protect your credit card account details both online and offline.

As a cardholder, you will have a number of responsibilities when it comes to protecting your credit card from fraudulent use including telling your credit card provider if your card is lost or stolen. This section will tell you all about these responsibilities.

We will also talk you through how you can protect yourself from missing repayments in the event of job loss, illness or redundancy through Payment Protection Insurance (PPI).
