"Great account, bad branch customer service" - Anon (10-Apr-2008)
My HSBC account never caused me any major problems. I tend to use the online banking service the most because I don't often get the time to go to the branch.
The staff in my local branch have often given me conflicting information when I have asked them a question which has led to confusion. The hours in my branch have also changed around a lot so now I don't know if they are open on Saturdays for some services or not. Some of the staff in my local branch are quite rude at times (in all fairness some of the staff are very good but the bad ones stand out a lot more).

The online banking that comes with my hsbc bank accounts is very simple to use. Whenever I have written to the bank I have had a very fast response to my letters. My local branch was particularly commendable.
There are still some hefty charges for going overdrawn I also got penalised for increasing my overdraft. It is really hard to understand the staff at the call centres as the line is often bad and they tend to have very strong accents.
Overall, I am impressed with HSBC.
