How many times have you had to use your breakdown cover in the last 12 months?

August 11 2008: The results of our June-August Poll are in!

First of all we would like to say thank you to the 506 readers who took part in our last poll, telling us how many times they have used their car breakdown cover in the last 12 months.

The majority of respondents, 70.4% (355), said that they had not used their breakdown cover policies in the past year.

Around a sixth of respondents, 17.7% (89), said they had used their breakdown cover at least once during the last 12 months.

A total of 54 people (10.7%) said they had used their breakdown cover once in the past year, 26 respondents (5.2%) had used it twice, and an unlucky 8 (1.6%) had needed to use it three times.

Meanwhile, 5.4% (27) of respondents said they didn’t have breakdown assistance even though they had cars and 6.7% (34) said they didn’t have breakdown cover but didn’t own a car.

Breakdown cover is a type of insurance which covers you in the event of your vehicle breaking down unexpectedly. It will allow you to call for help so that a mechanic will come and help you continue your journey or recover your vehicle to the nearest garage to have it repaired.

Our new poll is designed to see how much people really have to use their breakdown cover assistance and to raise awareness that this type of cover is not just for those people with cars.

We just want to know how many times you have used your breakdown cover in the past 12 months, if you have it.

If you don’t have breakdown cover we would just like to know if you have a car or not.
