World Cup will put pressure on bank accounts

Bank account balances will suffer during the football World Cup.
Britons' bank account balances are likely to feel the pressure this summer as the national team leaves the country to participate in the football World Cup.
Many diehard fans plan to jet off alongside the England squad, but the once-in-a-lifetime experience is likely to cost them dear.
According to Virgin Money's Football Fans' Inflation Index, England fans will spend up to £319m in total if the team makes it to the final.
This means that the average person travelling to South Africa will deplete their bank account balances by a massive £6,399.
Even those who only stay in the country for the three Group C games are likely to shell out £2,445 in flights, tickets, accommodation, food and replica shirts.
Grant Bather, a spokesman for Virgin Money, said: "Fans would probably say that £6,399 to see John Terry lift the World Cup would be priceless and definitely worth paying. But with up to 50,000 England fans flying out, the costs will certainly mount up.
"Fans need to make sure they get the best deals possible and should aim where possible to keep costs down," he advised.
M&S Money recently urged football fans to keep an eye on currency exchange rates in order to buy their spending money for the World Cup at the best time.
The South African rand has fluctuated against sterling over the past 12 months, meaning that Britons could lose out if they do not keep track of the exchange rate.
