Use vouchers and offers to make money go further

Vouchers are now a common sight.
If you're looking to make your money go further - like countless other Brits - why not take a look at some of the coupons and money-off vouchers that are available online? New research suggests that the majority of people now use this method to cut their spending and you could save hundreds of pounds by doing likewise.

Voucher hunting now the norm
A survey by Nationwide Building Society indicates that four out of five people now collect coupons and money-off vouchers in a bid to save money wherever possible. And it seems that Brits don't just use vouchers for items they'd already planned to purchase, as 72% now make purchase decisions on the basis of where they can get a discount.

Discount vouchers are also no longer a cause for embarrassment, as 92% of the 1,012 people surveyed by Atomik Research on behalf of Nationwide revealed that they are perfectly happy to whip out their vouchers in public. The findings indicate that Britons have become used to the tough economic climate and are prepared to do whatever it takes to save their pennies.

John Crossley, head of current accounts at Nationwide Building Society, said: "Household bills continue to rise, but people's wages aren't rising at the same rate. In many households, saving money has become a necessity and shopping around to find a discount or money-off voucher has become the norm."

Meal vouchers top wish-list
Vouchers that give money off restaurant meals appear to be the most popular among consumers, with three-quarters of survey respondents revealing that they choose restaurants after first looking for any available discounts.

Other items and services that you can easily get vouchers for include family days out, theatre tickets, hairdressing appointments and spa days, with a number of different websites giving you the opportunity to search for discounts at specific stores or companies.

In addition, it might be worth signing up to a daily deal website, which can deliver offers in your area straight into your inbox each day. However, remember to keep an eye on the number of deals you sign up for - the idea is to save money on things you'd have purchased regardless, not treat yourself to lots of 'cheap' treats that you can barely afford!ADNFCR-2196-ID-801388489-ADNFCR ADNFCR-2196-ID-19464191-ADNFCR
