Travel insurance customers told to read fine print
Travel insurance customers told to read fine print

Consumers should read the small print on travel insurance policies.
Holidaymakers who are performing a travel insurance comparison before purchasing a policy should remember to read the fine print, an expert has advised.
A representative of AA Travel Insurance said that consumers should do some thorough research if they want to avoid disappointment and financial losses.
In order to find the best travel insurance, tourists should look carefully at individual policies to ensure they are not misled by promotional claims.
"Always read the fine print before committing and consider investing in cover from a specialist provider rather than relying on a standardised policy included as part of another financial product," the AA Travel Insurance expert commented..
The guidance follows a recent article in the Guardian, which warned that five-star Defaqto-rated travel insurance is not necessarily a guarantee of extensive cover.
Economics correspondent Ashley Seager revealed that his annual worldwide travel insurance, which was obtained as part of a packaged back account, failed to live up to expectations, leaving him severely out of pocket when his family was stranded after the collapse of an airline.
Mr Seager said he learnt the hard way that he "should have read the small print, no matter how small".
