Switching home insurance providers recommended

Britons have been told to shop around for home insurance.
Britons should consider switching home insurance providers in the current economic climate, it was suggested on Wednesday (January 20th).
A new study released by Nottingham Building Society this week revealed that nearly a quarter of homeowners do not have home or contents insurance.
However, Neil Munroe, external affairs director at credit agency Equifax, explained that finding a new deal is always more prudent than cancelling cover altogether.
"Switching providers is always sensible to look at," he said.
"What people need to be aware of though, is being sure to match up what they already have with their new package, or get more benefits for the same price."
Mr Munroe also warned consumers not to fall into the trap of thinking home insurance is unnecessary and then finding that they need to make a claim.
Virgin Money recently noted that being covered is particularly crucial during the winter months as the average claim for a frozen pipe that bursts, for example, is about £3,000.
