Scottish Power has today announced that it will be increasing its gas and electricity prices from Monday 1 September.
The supplier said that its gas prices will increase by an average of 34% and its electricity prices will go up by 9%.
The energy company, one of the UK’s ‘big six’, said it was “forced to follow other energy providers” and has been one of the last to increase the cost of energy for domestic customers.
So far four other energy companies have hiked up their prices. EDF Energy started the trend on 28 July, British Gas followed suit with the largest ever energy increase on 31 July and then E.On and Scottish and Southern Energy made their increases on 21 August.
Npower is yet to reveal any price increases, but the move will likely be made very soon.
