Christmas shoppers may want to use a prepaid card.
Consumers who plan to do their Christmas shopping overseas this year may want to consider using a card that offers cashback.
The my Travel Cash prepaid card gives customers 1% unlimited cashback on all purchases, which means they are constantly rewarded for spending.
With recent research from Santander suggesting that the average Briton will spend £359 on Christmas presents this year, this could be the ideal prepaid travel card to take shopping.
Myles Stephenson, chief executive officer of my Travel Cash, observed: "More and more people are heading abroad to European Christmas markets or further afield to New York or LA.
"There is also a large percentage of the population who purchase from overseas websites."
Mr Stephenson revealed that, in addition to the cashback reward, the my Travel Cash prepaid card offers a "competitive" exchange rate, no commission and no fees for ATM withdrawals.
Consumers should also bear in mind that there are limits on the value of goods that can be brought into the UK without paying duty.
Angela Shephard, head of customs policy at HM Revenue & Customs, explained that people who buy their Christmas gifts abroad or from non-EU websites often assume the price they see is the amount they will finally pay.
However, this is not always the case, as Britons flying into the UK from non-EU countries can only bring in up to £390 worth of goods for personal use without paying customs duty or VAT.
