|Travel expert highlights the value of pre-paid credit cards.|
Prepaid credit cards are an ideal payment method to use while on holiday, it has been suggested.
Sarah Munro, head of Post Office Travel Services, admitted that many Britons are likely to feel insecure about carrying large sums of cash when abroad.
However, she explained that travellers should carry prepaid cards, which can be used at ATMs and in shops, restaurants and bars, along with a smaller amount of foreign currency.
She said: "Security-conscious travellers can avoid the risk of carrying large amounts of cash by using a prepaid card. This can be loaded with euros or dollars before departure.
"It's a really flexible means of carrying money and you don't need ID to cash funds."
Ms Munro added that prepaid cards are "very secure" as they are not linked to individuals' bank accounts and can be easily replaced if they are lost or stolen.
Last week, research by Santander indicated that cash is still king for the majority (52%) of Britons when they head off on holiday.
