Recession causes holidaymakers to research the value of foreign currency.
Growing numbers of holidaymakers are researching holidays and currency rates before they set off because of the impact of the recession, one travel money provider has claimed.
According to FairFX.com, purchasing currency before a holiday begins is more cost-effective than on the high street or in an airport.
Stephen Heath, chief executive of FairFX.com, said: "In boom times people didn't worry so much about travel money and left it till the last minute.
"What we are finding in this recessionary environment - as is the case with low cost air fares or travel insurance is that people are looking to the internet for price comparisons as opposed to the traditional methods of buying currency."
Previous research from holiday provider greenbee.com revealed that 34% of Brits spend a whole day trying to find the best holiday deal compared with 17% looking for their perfect destination.
An additional 14% spend the same amount of time researching the best prices for flights and accommodation.
