Good pet insurance 'should be a priority'

Pet insurance should be a priority.
Animal lovers should view pet insurance as a priority, it has been claimed.
Joanne Guillan, head of AA's pet insurance portfolio, emphasised the high level of affection that Britons tend to have for their pets.
However, she warned that cats and dogs are "just as prone to accidents and illness as we humans" and that they therefore need looking after properly.
She pointed out: "There's no NHS for the canine and feline kingdoms so arranging good insurance should be a priority."
Ms Guillan's comments came as the pet insurance provider published new research on Britain's favourite pet names.
A review of more than 16,000 dog and cat names found that typical human names tend to be the most common choices for pets.
Molly, Charlie, Poppy, Max and Millie all featured in the top ten names for both dogs and cats, while many owners have also found inspiration in their favourite football players, alcoholic drinks and cartoon characters.
A recent study by Veterinary Pet Insurance found that Bella was the most popular name for new dogs in the US in 2009, while Max took the top spot for American cats.
