|Five of the six largest energy providers have now increased prices|
E.On is increasing its electricity prices by 9.7% and its gas prices by 15% as of tomorrow, February 8.
British Gas, EDF Energy, npower and Scottish Power have also increased their prices over the last month.
E.On, who was formerly known as Powergen, blamed their price rises on a 60% increase in wholesale prices since February.
The increase will be put back until 1 April for the company’s 670,000 ‘vulnerable’ customers.
Managing director of E.On Energy, Graham Bartlett, said: “Our announcement has been made in response to sustained pressures from the wholesale market.
“We realise the impact this price increase will have on our customers and we’re doing everything we can to minimise this.
“We are offering a new product to allow more customers to join the half a million already benefiting from protected prices, while also helping those customers who are most in need,” he added.
