Credit card fraudsters handed prison sentence by London court.
Two men have been jailed after being found guilty of participating in a £20m credit card fraud operation.
Gboyega Akinbola, 36, and Oyetundi Oyedeji, 31, were sentenced to 42 months and two years respectively at Southwark Crown Court for their role in the worldwide scam.
The duo went on a £60,000 spending spree after snapping up 1,100 credit card details from hackers who are believed to have amassed approximately 200,000 stolen cards in total.
According to judge Christopher Hardy, the affair highlights a "shocking hole in the banks' credit system".
Mr Akinbola and Mr Oyedeji were caught after Moss Hills, who runs an online music store in Guildford, Surrey, investigated a suspicious order from the pair in June 2008.
He was praised at the hearing for his "ingenuity" and was awarded £500 from the public purse.
A similar mob of fraudsters, who routinely flew to Scotland from the Midlands to steal credit card details from unoccupied rooms at top hotels, were exposed earlier this year.
