'Rewards Money' customers will be able to donate to charity.
Credit card customers who are part of a new Barclaycard Freedom scheme will also be able to make vital contributions to charity, it emerged yesterday (February 10th).
The company confirmed recently that from March, it will give its eight million cardholders the opportunity to earn rewards for their spending on the high street and online.
However, it has now recruited JustGiving as its charity partner for the launch and revealed that it will match donations of 'Rewards Money' in 2010, up to a value of £50,000.
"Barclaycard Freedom incorporates all of the best elements of a rewards scheme, with the rewards, quite simply, in pounds and pence," said Sarah Newman, managing director of Barclaycard Freedom.
"We are delighted that JustGiving has joined as a charity partner in this scheme."
JustGiving managing director Anne-Marie Huby also expressed her satisfaction at the tie-up, explaining that it will give the charity a much-needed boost in the current "tough economic climate".
Barclaycard recently launched its second television advert designed to promote the value of making contactless credit card payments.
