Not all treatment will be covered by all policies and it’s worth comparing the cost of the premium against the length of treatment it will provide. Insurers may set maximum limits on cover so make sure that for your type of pet it’s a realistic amount.

As with all insurance policies you are obliged to disclose any relevant information to the insurer so if your pet already has an illness or receives treatment you will be asked about that in the application. As your pet gets older it will become more difficult and more expensive to get insurance for it too.

Many insurers will offer introductory incentives for new customers such as money towards vaccinations or other pet related benefits and it always makes sense to shop around to asses what the best deal for you will be.
