Breakdown Cover

Breaking down is a major inconvenience which, unless you have adequate breakdown insurance, can also be very costly.

Breakdown cover, also known as Breakdown Insurance and Breakdown recovery, will cover you for assistance in the event of a vehicle breakdown.

Policies vary, but the most basic of policies will try to temporarily repair your vehicle at the roadside so that you can get to your destination.

Others will provide a recovery service and take you to your destination or to a garage to have your car repaired.

The great thing about breakdown recovery these days is that you can opt for personal membership which covers you as a person instead of your vehicle. This means that, if you are in someone else’s vehicle and it breaks down, you can call your breakdown cover provider and get assistance.

Some breakdown cover providers also offer cover if you are planning on driving abroad. European Breakdown Cover will allow you to call for assistance in the event of a vehicle breakdown outside of the UK.
