Football teams along with the credit card issuers have responded to a growing demand for plastic that reflects the passion of the fans.  Being able to carry a credit card that shows commitment to their club is enough for many fans but the football credit cards' benefits often extend past this.

Football teams can run all kinds of promotions and reward schemes in association with their credit cards.  The usual credit card introductory offers such as 0% interest balance transfer offers and low or zero rate purchases are sometimes available plus they have competitive interest rates which also make them attractive.
