There are substantial discounts to be gained by switching from offline to online financial products, plus you can do your bit for the environment too.
You could switch your gas and electricity tariff from a standard tariff to an online tariff and save money on your energy bills.
Some banks are offering incentives to switch from paper billing to paperless billing, including money added to your account if you make the switch.
What’s more, if you mainly manage your savings account via online banking but don’t currently have an ‘online saver’ from your bank, you could earn extra interest by phoning your bank and asking it to switch you to the online account. You will probably have to give up your cash machine card and paying in book, but if you are already using online banking, you probably won’t miss these anyway.
Plus, if you purchase other personal finance products online, such as insurance, you will be sent your documentation via email for storage on your computer, therefore savings trees, and will benefit from an online discount for buying over the internet.
