Car insurance firms are rejecting around a thousand claims a year, due to parents and their children lying to cut costs and save money.
“Fronting” happens when young drivers buy and register a car in their own name, but the insurer is falsely told that their parent is the main driver. “Fronting” can save people hundreds of pounds on their premiums. If you are caught out, this type of fraud is not taken lightly by insurance firms.
Choosing the correct motor insurance can help give you the protection and peace of mind. There are three main types of motor insurance:
Comprehensive insurance
Comprehensive insurance sometimes called “fully comp”, is the most expensive option but is by far the best option, as this covers damage in accidents to both your car and any other car. It also includes cover to any damage to your windscreen, car stereo, personal belongings in the car, and pays out if you are injured or die in an accident, or if other people make claims against you following an accident.
Third party, fire and theft insurance
Third party, fire and theft insurance is cheaper than comprehensive motor insurance and will cover you if people make a claim against you after and accident. It also, pays out to repair or replace your car if it’s stolen or damaged by fire. The set back is with this option is that if you damage your car in an accident, you can't claim from any other driver's policy and therefore you'll have to pay the repair bill.
Third party insurance
The third option is the cheapest option with the minimum cover. Third party insurance is a basic policy and only covers you against claims for injuries and damage that you, or any of your passengers, cause to another person or their property in an accident. If your car is damaged in a fire accident or stolen you won’t be able to claim under this insurance policy.
